Kingfisher Mining confirms presence of lithium-bearing pegmatites at Chalby Chalby with rock chip samples

Kingfisher Mining Ltd (ASX:KFM) has made great strides in advancing its critical minerals strategy with the confirmation of lithium-bearing pegmatite formations on the Chalby Chalby Project in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia.

KFM used rock chip sampling over a 3.3-kilometre by 3-kilometre area to determine the project’s prospectivity for lithium, returning results up to 0.34% lithium.

Importantly, the project sits along strike from the Thirty Three Suite pegmatites, which are known to host lithium at Delta Lithium’s Yinnetharra Project – initial drilling at Yinnetharra has generated results up to 29 metres at 1.39% lithium.

Advancing lithium and REE exploration

“Our first-pass lithium exploration sampling has delivered exciting initial results immediately along strike from known Thirty Three Suite Pegmatites; the pegmatites that host Delta Lithium’s Yinnetharra Project which is just 45 kilometres to the northeast of our tenements,” Kingfisher Mining executive director and CEO James Farrell said.

“A large area of pegmatite dykes has been identified at our new Chalby Chalby target, with highly encouraging initial lithium assays and fertility results providing a clear path forward for immediate follow-up to advance the lithium potential of our Gascoyne tenements.

“Our team is currently on site and work to advance our lithium targets will continue alongside our ongoing mapping and sampling which is targeting large-scale carbonatite intrusions.”

Other rock chip samples included 0.25% lithium, 0.16% lithium and 0.11% lithium.

Kingfisher intends to follow up these results with further sampling, targeting extensions to fertile pegmatites as well as fresh formations in the centre of the Chalby Chalby target area.

Chalby Chalby is directly adjacent to KFM’s flagship Mick Wells Project, where exploration at the CH8 and CH11 targets generated total rare earth oxide (TREO) grades of up to 18.84%, with a high-value component of the magnet rare earths neodymium and praseodymium of 3.34%.
