Beware of Buying Wrong, Electric and Ordinary Motor Bearings Turns Out to be Far Different
29 Aug,2022
Electric motor owners must know if they want to replace bearings.
Don't buy the wrong one, because electric and ordinary motor bearings are far different.
This bearing difference is because the way the two machines work is also slightly different.
Regarding the details, explained Vincentius Rajagukguk, Head Of 4 Wheeler SKF Indonesia.
"SKF is among the lucky ones, when electrification occurs in vehicles many components are lost, but SKF bearings are still used even though the number is reduced," said Vincentius Rajagukguk, (15/8/22).
"As in gasoline motors the use of bearings ranges from 12 to 15 bearings, after switching to electric motors only 4 to 6 bearings," he added.
There are several things that make ordinary motor bearings different from electric motor bearings.
"Bearings specially developed for electric vehicles (EV) are made more precise, low friction (less friction) so that the energy needed is more efficient," said President Director of PT SKF Indonesia, Toto Suharto.
AB SKF, a global SKF company, is currently developing an e-Powertrain, one of which is bearings for electric vehicles.
